What is Cvent?

Cvent is a cloud-based enterprise event management platform that offers software solutions to event planners for online event registration, venue selection, event management, mobile apps for events, e-mail marketing and web surveys.

What does it do?

Cvent puts events planners and organisers in total control of their events! It manages all aspects of events, whether a small internal seminar or a large conferences. From venue finding, event marketing, event registration, travel, to mobile apps and reporting it helps event managers increase attendance, increase productivity and decrease costs of their events.

Who’s behind it?

It was founded by CEO Reggie Aggarwal in 1999. It grew out of his frustration trying to organise gatherings for the Indian CEO High Tech Council, his networking group. He was sending hundreds of individual e-mails, managing replies and organising food preferences for meals–while trying to practice law!

How did it get here?

Aggarwal raised the funds to launch a simple event-registration company to help businesses send digital invites to conferences and meetings. Within eight months Cvent grew from 5 employees to 125. 2012 saw the acquisition of two event application developers, Seed Labs which was rebranded as CrowdTorch and CrowdCompass.

What does it look like?

As a cloud based software, it can manage numerous events simultaneously, and has run over a million events worldwide. The event management platform has something to help you at each stage of your event—from finding unique venues, setting up a budget, marketing your events and hosting online registration, to easing the check-in process, engaging your attendees onsite, and ultimately providing you with post-event analytics to measure your inevitable success.

Why we like it…

You’ve maybe heard of an event organiser being a ‘swan’ on event day. Pedalling furiously while still maintaining a graceful exterior. We like to think its because of apps like Cvent. It’s so easy to spend hours searching for a venue in a new city instead of using those with the time and knowledge to take one thing off your hands. It’s an app that manages budgets as well as on-site, generates post-event reports and even takes online payments. This is one of the key players in the industry- one we think is definitely worth a try.
