What does it do?
Glisser ‘socialises presentations’ through a simple app. Presenters or event organisers can push slides to audience devices one at a time as they are presented. Attendees can then write on them, mark them up and take them away just like a printed slide deck, but in electronic format. Glisser also integrates slide-by-slide ‘like’ voting, audience questions, Twitter, as well as polling and feedback slides integrated seamlessly within the original deck. So it’s a meaty app!
Who’s behind it?
Glisser is the brainchild of Mike Piddock a client-side marketing expert turned event tech startup. London based Mike is now firmly in the startup tech scene.
How did it get here?
Mike Piddock was looking for an app to improve interaction and data collection at the numerous events his company ran each year. Unable to find something suitable at the right price, he decided to do it himself. He promptly found a developer and together they built a prototype that worked so well, Mike quit the corporate world to focus on Glisser.
What does it look like?
The Glisser guys have employed the services of their Tech City neighbours to produce some explainer videos linked here, which demonstrate how easy it is to set up and use. Polling slides can just be dragged and dropped into place, and other social features with the tap of an icon. ‘Simplicity is key’, they say, since they want attendees to ‘get’ the app as easy as Twitter, and for presentations to be set up ‘within minutes, after a few practice goes!’
Why is it this week’s Gallus Events Event Tech of The Week?
Glisser launches this week! The Apple app is available, with an Android version due within a week. However, Glisser first made itself known at our Tech Fest event earlier in the year, where our guests got an exclusive preview of the technology as part of the Startup Bazaar. Since then, the team has been busy working away building a robust and secure platform behind the scenes to allow it to manage ‘hundreds of thousands of presentations and millions of questions, votes and tweets’. So we are delighted to spread the word! Glisser Event Technology of the week.
