What is InitLive?

InitLive in a mobile device app that helps you manage your staff and volunteers in real-time on event day.  It’s geared at those who plan festivals, large conferences, sporting events or any major event involving many staff and volunteers. You can focus on critical tasks knowing that your staff, scheduling, and communications are all taken care of.

What does it do?

This tool provides a real-time communication system and a comprehensive scheduling service that replaces current tools such as excel spreadsheets, walkie-talkies, and e-mail. The app allows the planner to see who has checked in, where they are scheduled to work and to quickly communicate with filtered groups of people. Not only is the native app a cloud service; it is also scalable, flexible and paperless. In minutes, you can create and build an event on the InitLive website, then have all the details pushed to the mobile app.

Who’s behind it? / How did it get here?

Wesley Clover, a Terry Matthews start-up incubator, funds InitLive. It was founded in 2013 by a mother-daughter duo, Debbie & Melissa Pinard who both saw that managing staff was still a painful experience for most event planners. Debbie, with 36 years of experience in the telecommunications field and Melissa, with a background in media, communications, and graphic design teamed up to create InitLive.

What does it look like?

Take a look! InitLive was designed with the end customer in mind. Planners need to be able to act fast during an event, which is why on the app everything is two or less clicks away.

The intuitive design and colour-coded tiles make it easy for anyone to use, no matter how tech savvy they are.

Why it’s our ETOTW…

You ever tried herding sheep? Us neither. But we like the idea of an app that helps you keep track of and manage your hypothetical flock. Using paper at a festival is almost impossible. Being able to create paperless schedules,  and update information quickly is therefore a huge bonus. InitLive also works as a problem shooter letting you know if staff haven’t arrived and where gaps are created. It’s easy to navigate so training is minimal. Given that most of us have and rely on smartphones this is definitely one to try for bigger teams.
